the times they are a'changin'...

Tomorrow is a new day... so please excuse the corniness.

For the first time in four years, I'll be heading to a new job tomorrow. It is such a strange thing to think about, much less say. There is so much opportunity in the world, and it's nice to feel like I'm grabbing hold of it again. I'm also apparently grabbing a hold of the new-job jitters. It's been four years since I've started a new job, so my brain is freaking itself out trying to remember how to do new things. Mix that in with the excitement that I'm finally on the right path to not only where I should be, but where I want to be, and I'm just a big old pile of feelings today. Is this what being an adult feels like?

...because Success Kid is everything today.Onwards and upwards to other things! I just recently updated my Design gallery with some of my newer design work from Dean Michaels Studio, and there will be more added throughout the day. Why stress out about exciting things when you can create/edit art? So when you check back later, there will be some new things added to my Photo gallery by the end of the day, too.

Other exciting things coming up? I'm going to be a proper Alum this year, and be visiting Alfred University's annual BFA Senior Shows. If you've never been, and will be anywhere near the Alleghany County the weekend of May 7th, I would say definitely go and check it out. Not only is there some absolutely amazing work, but it's always nice to spend a day in Alfred. Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone!

Parsippany/Montville Adventure Bootcamp

I am so absolutely thrilled to be helping out the wonderful Jessica Kucinski with the social media and marketing for both her Parsippany and Montville Adventure Bootcamps.

I can't be more excited to help get more people involved with this wonderful organization (as well as Jess's personal athletic training business, Little Black Dress). I've also created a brand new Twitter account to go along with the two fan pages, so be sure to follow! If anything can get me up and going at 5:30am in the morning, you know it's a good thing, so I'm looking forward to promoting her business and helping her reach the next level.

The newest Dean Michaels Studio contest...

It's that time of year again! After the success of both the 2012 and 2013 Facebook Contests for Dean Michaels Studio, today's the start of the 2014 contest. After three years of this promotion for the Facebook page, I've learned a few things regarding getting our customers both interested and involved. This means that I made a few changes this year regarding the overall design and feel of the samplers (based upon the past winners and their preferences/changes they've suggested), and how I collect information for the grand prize round at the end of the year.

Finally!

Thank god for snow - that's all I can say :D

First things first - rrutledgeonline.tumblr.com is going to be updating the rest of this weekend with some photos and mixtapes after I resuscitated it from the unintentional coma I put it in during 2013. My bad. At least if you had been following miss-printed.tumblr.com, you got the craziness of my everyday mind ;P
Also, I finally fell through the rabbit hole and created a twitter account - check out my about me page to check out the links for not only that, but my instagram and pinterest accounts too :D

Other new things - both the Film Photography and Digital Photography galleries (both of the various year galleries, if you want specifics) have been updated to reflect work from the last year or so. The Music Series gallery, which I've had work ready to upload for ages, but just haven't had the time to (story of my life), also got a bit of a facelift. And finally, like I mentioned yesterday, I updated my links section as well.

Now that all of the basics are done, we're onto the big updates!!!

 Tiny Little Boxes | March 20, 2012, 3:09pm

If you've been following my updates around here at all, I've been talking about a print project I've been working on for just about forever (like here and here and most recently, here). Tiny Little Boxes is what comes from my original love of making art for my mixtapes, and combining it with the time based thought process behind The Book Project and The Calendar Project. I've seriously fallen in love with making these little snap shots of life, and I'm in the process of trying to figure out a way to display them in a way that makes the most sense. For right now, my first print trial has worked out pretty well and I've been giving away the first couple prints to friends and family. We'll see where it goes from there.

The other major update is my newest gallery, which will be displaying all of my blogging, marketing and promotional work that I've written or helped create. For me, everything comes back to a visual representation, and although the gallery is currently small (as in, only one thing so far), the twists and turns of my current employment ensure that, especially in 2014, it'll become a lot more interesting in the new year.

So, that's about it. I'm actually going to try and update this more than once or twice a year, and seeing as I'm currently three posts in to 2014, it's going well so far. Enjoy the winter storm, everyone!

Another year, another contest...

After the success of last year's Facebook contest for Dean Michaels Studio, we recently started our newest contest just in time for the start of the 2013 wedding season! The popularity of the 2012 contest not only allowed the overall likes for the studio's Facebook page to grow, but gave me some wonderful opportunities to reach out to other vendors to expand our reach throughout the New Jersey area. And just like last year, I'm also in charge of creating all of the samplers and artwork associated with the contest, which is always a lot of fun from a design perspective :D
